SUMMER INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY: 

This internship program consists of a 10 week comprehensive project view of the Land Department and processes.  The overall goal of this opportunity is to provide a level of guidance, on the job training and support through various land practices. 

 

Throughout the internship the intern will focus on weekly tasks designed to accompany an array of departmental functions, core responsibilities as well as land processes in conjunction with overall administrative support services.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

As an intern you’ll work with land professionals and site managers and gain invaluable exposure to a range of land careers.  You will gain knowledge in the following areas:

 

  • File Administration/ROW Documentation/Agreements –
    • File Administration- Intern will work directly with File Administrator and focus on building all Land related files   
    • ROW Agreements- Intern will work directly with Documentation Specialist and focus on understanding/interpreting agreements and ancillary documentation.  
    • Intern will learn the process of Land Owner payments, weekly check runs and emergency land owner payments.
    • Intern will work directly with Title Coordinator on Title Documentation
  • GIS Mapping - Intern will work directly with the mapping department for a brief overview on how gathering systems are built; High & Low pressure lines, Residue Lines, Trunk lines, maps etc.    
  • Transportation/Field Work - The Transportation department will teach the intern the process of bonding roads, inspecting roadway conditions and applying for permits. The Intern will also work directly with Senior Land Agent/Project Managers on L/O visits, negotiations etc.
  • PCCM Database Overview - Intern will work directly with PCCM Coordinators on entering data information, building reports, reviewing line lists, L/O payments, etc.    Intern will have working knowledge of this database and be able to participate in entering data.
  • AFEs, Budgeting, Cost Analysis –
    • AFE's Budgets- Intern will work directly with Cost Analysts on building an AFE Budgets, reviewing expenditures, prep work, forecasting and Project Analysis
    • Plant and Site Tours   
  • Work directly with File Administrator and focus on building all Land related files

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in: Energy

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Physical Demands:

 

This position requires sitting throughout most of the day. It will involve some lifting and filing.

On occasion there will be outside office assignments that can involve walking around construction sites, industrial locations, field and/or wooded areas.

 

Working Environment:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions, which could range from extreme cold to hot, humid conditions. Walking on uneven terrain is often required during normal work duties.  Duties may require visiting and walking around some construction and industrial sites, farm properties, driving on rural roads, and other field locations, to acquire familiarity with facilities, properties and settings. High noise areas may be encountered. At all times proper PPE must be used in work areas.

 

Materials and Equipment Used:

 

The materials and equipment used on a regular basis will be a personal computer, phone, fax, copier and map printer/plotter.
