POSITION SUMMARY:

This individual will be responsible for overseeing and implementing safety and health related programs. This position provides the opportunity to interact with all levels of management and employees in areas of occupational injury and illness reporting and recordkeeping and incident reporting and investigation. This position supports management by implementing standards, procedures and work processes that comply with government requirements, MPC Standards, and industry best practices. This position is responsible for implementing processes and programs that reduce injuries and mitigates safety risks.

 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


•Compiling organizational safety metrics, performing data analysis and identifying processes and programs to mitigate safety and health risks.
•Implements safety and health programs for the organization and designs safety strategies focused on incident prevention and risk reduction.
•Assists in incident investigations and implements organizational corrective actions and lessons learned.
•Develops, reviews and revises organizational policies, procedures and standards.
•Ensures compliance with regulatory and MPC HESS metric requirements and is accountable to provide quality guidance and support on all metric and investigation matters.
•Develops, conducts and measures safety training and education with regards to metrics, incident investigations and intelex. Collaborates with leadership and team members to ensure adequate training levels are achieved and are compliant with applicable regulations and company requirements. Develops and shares best practices across the organization and company.
•Provides leadership and guidance on all injury and illness reporting, vehicle accidents and the overall incident investigation process.
•Ensure alignment with and adherence to external regulatory and MPC requirements for incident investigations. Participate and/or lead audits as needed to fulfill requirements and to continuously improve the process.
•Create and communicate value-added metrics for incident reporting. Monitor metrics for leading and lagging indicators and initiate continuous improvement as needed.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

•To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform or learn to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and demonstrate by experience knowledge of the gas and oil business.
•Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year College or University preferably in the field of physical, natural sciences or engineering with 4 to 10 year’s experience in oil & gas processes.
•The candidate must have knowledge of OSHA, ACGIH, NIOSH, API, and ANSI.
•Current valid driver's license required.
•Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Job will require public speaking engagements and report writing.
•Basic computer skills to include knowledge of Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint.
•Ability to prepare reports, exercise discretion when dealing with confidential information, and the ability to keep records, analyze and summarize raw data, in order to fill out and submit summary and regulatory reports.
•Ability to work well and communicate with all field personnel and senior managers.
•Knowledge of Intelex and familiarity with the project process is a plus.


• Travel Expected: up to 25%


WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While primarily working in an office environment, the employee will be required to conduct field audits, investigations and training. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to outside weather conditions, which could range from cold and snow to hot, humid conditions. Walking on uneven terrain is often required during field investigations. High noise areas may be encountered.
