 Marathon Petroleum is seeking a HES&S Professional to oversee safey at the Harmon Creek and Houston, PA facilities. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interprets and/or develops Company health, environmental and safety policies and guidelines and develops methods and procedures for implementing them and assuring conformance; advises appropriate managers and supervisors of the Company's goals and requirements; provides guidance and technical assistance in organizing and establishing programs and procedures to implement and administer such requirements, including budget  inputs.
  • Designs and/or reviews engineering designs and cost estimates for health, environmental and safety equipment or systems; determines engineering specifications and recommends equipment, as required.
  • Identifies current and developing health, environmental and/or safety problems/issues and provides recommendations to address such problems.
  • Monitors compliance with health, environmental and safety policies in assigned areas; directs related reports and recommendationtappropriate personnel.
  • Investigates significant health issues, environmental emergencies and/or occupational injuries and illnesses to determine cause and contributory circumstances; confers with appropriate personnel to plan and initiate steps to prevent recurrences; informs management of action taken.
  • Monitors state or regional information systems to ensure that appropriate, concise information is readily available; attends periodic meetings with system officials.
  • Develops health, environmental and safety information, manuals, training material and programs; informs employees of related policies and procedures; conducts appropriate training sessions.
  • Keeps abreast of governmental health, environmental and safety control legislation and related technological and administrative developments; develops/assists with legislative and regulatory impact assessment to ensure an appropriate response by the Company to governmental proposals; submits required reports and obtains various permits as required; represents the Company as an expert witness in health, environmental and safety litigation or administrative proceedings.
  • Represents the Company with appropriate trade associations. Maintains a working knowledge of issues and key Industry contacts, directs activities and budgets, and disseminates pertinent information.
  • Maintains sufficient professional expertise and proficiency in discipline to achieve Company expectations and perform technical assignments

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety or Occupational Health strongly preferred, OR at least 15 years equivalent work experience 
  • At least 5 years experience within a health, environmental & safety position, strong preference for oil & gas industry experience
